Price as configured: $120.00

These wines are so ridiculously bling-laden we could barely pour them on the tasting bench due to their sheer weight of awesomeness. This pack starts and ends with a great array of European varietals. Floral aromas come out to play with the Hesketh Bonvedro and Purple Hands Aglianico, while the K1 Pinot and Monterra Nero D’Avola produce fine fruit with good acid, perfect for broad food pairing options. The 919 Durif is a big, black friendly monster and Purple Hands come in again with a magnificent bush vine Grenache. Surely no one will order this?

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

Remember when your friend mentioned one of those Italian wines, what was it, Nero D’Avola? Neros are starting to appear more and more in our humble marketplace, this offering from Monterra is made by Mike Farmilo of Willunga 100 fame-ilo and won best in class at the San Diego Wine show - it’s deliciously complex, with hints of cherries, black and blue berries, red liquorice, herbs, white pepper, and a lingering fragrance. Of course, we had to include a Pinot – so here’s Geoff Hardy's 2016 K1, from the Adelaide Hills - lots of distinct Pinot-esque cherries, strawberries and bath powder followed by a walk in Kuitpo Forest after a fresh wintery rain. Floral aromas abound in the Hesketh Bonvedro – a Portuguese variety sourced from a single vineyard in Light Pass, Barossa Valley - the skins are left on for ten days, to extract detail and tannin. Durif, also known as ‘Petite Syrah’, is appropriately tannic and perfect for cellaring - this particular version from 919 wines in the Riverland of SA, offers lots of spice and dark cherry, reminiscent of the warm climate it’s grown in - best enjoyed after an hour or so in the decanter to get the magic happening. Purple Hands wash over the remainder of this pack with their Old Vines Grenache and Aglianico. ‘Agli-what’, you say? Just think loads of crunchy fruit, rose and spice delivered via 18 months on oak, so it’s even more softened and vibrant. The Old Vines Grenache is superb - hand pressed, bush grown grapes delivering really bright fruit, spice and texture. Magnificent.
