No One Will Order This v12.0

Price as configured: $120.00

No time for Shiraz? This alternate pack speaks your language. Triple Grenache from Purple Hands, Curtis Limited and our fave, Spinifex Garcon. Also here is a big fat Tempranillo from 919 in the SA Riverland, a Tannat from Hither & Yon and an Italian Negroamaro from Conte Di Campiano. Great wines for food pairing, great wines when you feel like something different. $120 for six... that’s like... only $20/bottle for ripper savoury wines? Meh, no one will order this anyway.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

This little savoury pack has reached its full 12 month cycle! Lovers of alternate varieties take note… The Spinifex Garcon Grenache is delicious drinking, with plenty of dark cherry and red berry fruit flavours slipping into velvet tannins. The Curtis Limited Grenache is fine boned but generously fruity, showing blueberries, spice and a touch of confection. Pop it through the decanter if you want to drink now or cellar away for a good ten or fifteen years. It's been a while since we featured Purple Hands Old Vines Grenache, not sure how that happened given how much of it we take home in staff orders - plenty of red and blue fruits from old bush vines that spend a year on big old oak giving texture and appeal. From Hither & Yon, a Tannat (originally from France, now the national grape of Uruguay) which has a good set of rustic tannin legs, medium bodied red and black fruits and coffee spice - perfect for a chunky steak. The 2012 Tempranillo from 919 Wines in the SA Riverland is bigger than average, superbly reflected in its sun-soaked juicy black fruit, bold tannins and generous acidity. Even with a number of years on it already, safely hide it in the den to let the tannins settle. Finally, an Italian number from Conte di Campiano. Their Squinzano Riserva is 100% Negroamaro and shows great texture, currants, sticky spice, citrus and savoury complexities. It’s big and reveals more the longer it’s open.
