Norfolk Rise Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Special Price $20.00 Regular Price $23.00
A delicious, crisp, cool climate SB from Mount Benson. Jalapeños, grassiness, and lemon juice here, along with a crisp texture and excellent acidity and length. Maybe a perfect seafood wine - oysters? Ceviche? Steamed white fish with lemongrass and shitake mushrooms. Delicious by itself as an aperitif too.

Norfolk Rise has been around for well over 20 year and have significant vineyard holdings in Mount Benson. Mount Benson is on the Limestone Coast and has a habit of producing exceptional wines. We suspect it might be the best bit of the LSC for producing exceptional white and red wines.

Mexican Ceviche
Mexican Ceviche
The explosive lime-iness of this dish would make you reach for a nice cold Corona to wash it down, but an equally great companion is the wine equivalent of a crisp, clean lager. The Tim Adams Pinot Gris fits that bill perfectly with its balance of zesty lemon, crisp apple and pear and fresh mineral flavours but any other good PG will do the job. Summer feasting calls for fresh, tangy and light dishes and a ceviche is a fantastic way to kick off a Mexican feast and get your tastebuds tingling. Ceviche is a seafood dish of raw fish cured in lime juice. This recipe comes from a Mexican friend living in Denmark – her family hold onto their culinary heritage as much as possible but they often have to improvise when they can’t find some of their favourite, more ‘exotic’ ingredients at the supermarket. That’s the great thing about a ceviche – you can make it to suit your own tastes, heat tolerances and what’s available or affordable in your neck of the woods. Serve the ceviche in a big bowl for

Sauvignon Blanc is a green-skinned grape variety which originates from the Bordeaux region of France. The grape gets its name from the French word sauvage ("wild") and blanc ("white") due to its early origins as an indigenous grape in South West France. It is now planted in many of the world's wine regions, producing a crisp, dry, and refreshing white varietal wine.

In Australia

Here in Australia, particularly the Margaret River region, the grape is often blended with Sémillon. Varietal styles, made from only the Sauvignon blanc grape, from Adelaide Hills and Padthaway have a style distinctive from our New Zealand neighbours and tend to be more ripe in flavor with white peach and lime notes and slightly higher acidity.

Characteristics

Depending on the climate, the flavor can range from aggressively grassy to sweetly tropical. Wine experts have used the phrase "crisp, elegant, and fresh" as a favorable description of Sauvignon blanc from the Loire Valley and New Zealand.Sauvignon blanc
