Monterra Reserve Shiraz 2016

A staggeringly intense Shiraz this, which will cellar for eons. Packed with black and blue fruits, cedary tannins and amazing depth of flavour. If you are buying a dozen, consider drinking one every 18 months or so.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

Monterra is a brand split across the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale. Mike Farmilo is the winemaker here, former maker of Penfolds Grange and twice winner of the Jimmy Watson trophy. Brad Rey is also heavily involved (Zonte’s Footstep). The quality of the reds is superb, as the medal cabinet attests. The 15 Merlot is varietal and rich and a gold medal winner. The Nero d’Avola is superb, a deserved trophy winner. We also love the Shiraz, which has picked up a gold medal and was also awarded best wine in class at the Winemaker Challenge in 2017.

Customer Reviews

Needs more time as well to show its real charms.

Monterra Reserve Shiraz 2016 – The twin brother of the Cabernet, similar style, depth and concentration but more pepper and spice. Needs more time as well to show its real charms. 93++ points.
