Ménage à Trois feat. Stunning Reds from Barossa, McLaren Vale & Clare

A wonderful selection of highly awarded, big and bold reds. There’s 97 point intensity and complexity from Kilikanoon and a 96 point Grenache Shiraz from Curtis, sourced from 120-year-old Grenache vines and 80 year old Shiraz. It’s had a good long stay in French oak which has given it lots of warmth and richness. You’ll also get Massena’s flagship Cab, an $85 behemoth which Sam Kim scored at 97 points, a Cab and a Shiraz from Curator Wine Co., both rated 96 points and the Lone Palm Hillside Shiraz. We don’t get much of the Lone Palm and it sells out quickly... the previous vintage lasted just 12 weeks! If you are on the hunt for big, flavoursome, rich reds, the kind that pair perfectly with winter food, look no further.

An intense blend from the wineries best fruit from a west facing hillside block in the prized Barossa sub region of Marananga. A mix of mostly old and some new French and American oak is used here, allowing the oak to appear as a character rather than the plot. Black, more black and blue fruits, blackberries, coffee, graphite, chocolate, minerals, liquorice, spice, blueberries, cedar and firm tannins.
    2 x Massena Macero Cabernet 2018 (RRP $85.00)
    Barossa Valley, SA
97pts Sam Kim, 94pts James Halliday, 93pts Kim Brebach, 92pts Real Review
A dense, rich, chewy Cabernet sourced from exceptional vineyards and which ideally needs a bit of time in the cellar. Whole berries were fermented and gently basket pressed into a combination of old and new French oak. The wine was matured on lees in barrel to build texture. The palate and tannins are firm, so decant if you are going to drink soon. Flavours and aromas of cassis, dark chocolate and spice. Monumental.
    Barossa Valley, SA
96pts Sam Kim, 93pts Wine Front
This powerful Marananga Cabernet was matured in 60% new French oak and was bottled unrefined and unfiltered. Its expressive nose offers violets, plum and cassis, the palate is rich long and seamless, again offering plum plus cassis. Plenty of fine tannins to finish.

96pts Sam Kim, 94pts Kim Brebach, 92pts James Halliday
Produced from 120-year-old Grenache bush vines and 80 year old Shiraz vines. The fruit is cold soaked for 14 days before a slow ferment. It is then pressed into new and 2 year old oak where it is allowed to mature 18 months. The resulting wine is rich and complex, with black fruit, cedar, vanilla, spice and generosity its hallmarks.
    Barossa Valley, SA
    96pts Sam Kim
A beautifully ripe, rich and seamless single vineyard Barossa Shiraz. Dark fruits, smoked meats, dark chocolate and beautiful cedary oak. Superb depth of fruit.
    Clare Valley, SA
97 pts Kim Brebach, 95pts Sam Kim
Meymans vineyard provides the foundation for Kilikanoon's Covenant Shiraz. The fruit in this 2018 vintage is deep, rich, black and voluptuous, the oak controlled and cedary, the tannins fine and plentiful. According to Kim Brebach this vintage is a …’perfect pitch, stunning wine. Already drinking well but the balance suggests it will last for 10 years or more. 97+ points’
