The Kaesler family arrived in the Barossa Valley from Sliesia in the 1840s. They bought land in the Barossa in 1891 and spent 2 years furiously planting, after which time they had 96 acres planted to Grenache, Shiraz, Marato and a few white varieties. 21 Years ago Reid Bosward and a few mates bought the farm from the Kaesler family... benefitting from an estate where the youngest red vines were at least 40 years of age. The wines are still produced entirely from the estate grown vines. Reid and co also own wineries and brands elsewhere in Australia including the Clare Valley, McLaren Vale and the legendary Yarra Yering winery. Kaesler is an exceptional winery unsurprisingly rated 5 red stars by James Halliday, which is his highest possible rating.

Aroma characters can range from violets to berries (usually dark as opposed to red), chocolate, espresso and black pepper. No one aroma can be called "typical" though blackberry and pepper are often noticed. With time in the bottle these "primary" notes are moderated and then supplemente ... Read Full Article
