Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard 'The Peake' McLaren Vale Cabernet Shiraz 2018

Special Price $170.00 Regular Price $175.00
In a word: sumptuous. Dark chocolate and blackberries, black plum, superfine tannins and perfectly modulated acidity. According to James Halliday this is the best blend of Cabernet and Shiraz he has ever tasted. We are inclined to agree.

Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard was planted in 1971 and up until the Jackson Family purchased it in 2012 provided fruit for a slew of super premium producers. Parcels found their way into Penfold’s Grange, Eileen Hardy, Clarendon Hill’s Astralis and plenty more besides. That all changed in 2012 when the Jackson Family (think Yangarra estate) purchased the vineyard and kept the glorious fruit for themselves. Given the illustrious wines this fruit had been going into, it should be no surprise that the Hickinbotham wines are picking up some pretty amazing accolades. James Halliday has just given the Merlot 97, Cabernet Franc 96, Cabernet 97, Shiraz 98 and the Cabernet Shiraz a staggering 99 points.

Yangarra’ s winemaker, Pete Fraser also helps out with the production of the Hickinbotham wines. You’ll also be familiar with the ‘output’ of the vineyard which was planted in 1971 but not purchased by the Jackson Family until 2012. It has often supplied fruit for Penfolds Grange, Clarendon Hill Astralis, Wirra Wirra’s Angelus, Hardy’s Eileen Hardy Shiraz and plenty more top end Aussie bottles. Read Full Article
