Hesketh Small Parcels McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017

A full bodied beast with rich and bright fruits in equal measure. Deliciously slurpable right now, this will also cellar well… we reckon for 5-8 years. Strap on the bib and pair it with beef tenderloin, or ribs or brisket. We dug around and found chocolate, liquorice, plums, smoky oak and lots more besides.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

The Hesketh family have a long and storied history in the industry and a long association with the Lehmann dynasty. Robert Hesketh originally formed Masterson wines with Peter Lehmann which saved plenty of Barossa growers during the vine pull scheme in the 80’s. Robert and Peter’s sons, Jonathon Hesketh and Phil Lehmann now work together running Hesketh wines, Jonathon as owner, Phil as chief winemaker.

A typical rich, big and generous Macca Shiraz

Hesketh Small Parcels McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017 - I’m not a huge fan of Shiraz, nor of McLaren Vale. I do like some of the Cabernets made here though. Anyhow, this is a typical rich, big and generous Macca Shiraz, and it revealed some lovely aromas and spices over 3 days in the open bottle. It just needs 2 -3 more years. 93+ points. BUY
