Greenock Creek vs. The Barossa

Don’t worry, there’s not really a cage fight in progress and we promise these wines will play nicely together should you choose to take them in. Two exuberant siblings from Greenock Creek, the old stager from Turkey Flat, Two Sisters' new kid on the block (apologies for the earworm), Cooper Burns’ old school, gravitas laden poet, and the happy, fruity Cheshire Cat. Six different expressions of Barossa Valley Shiraz bundled up and ready for you to invite home now.

    Greenock Creek vs. The Barossa
We are very pleased to have the wines of Greenock Creek in the house! Two fine examples from them; the Casey's Block with its liquorice, chocolate, prune, clove, black olive, cocoa and a waft of savoury herbs, marking it as a wine of some complexity. Secondly, there's their Apricot Block which is sourced from vines planted on the site of an old apricot orchard in Marananga. Remarkably, the wine has a clear aroma and flavour of perfectly ripe apricots amongst notes of chocolate, black cherries and blackstrap wrapped around a strong core of acidity. You probably know of Turkey Flat, with its plantings stretching back to 1847. This is a brilliantly structured wine with depth of flavour, texture and superb cellaring potential. The Two Sisters is a powerhouse, described by one wine critic with the tagline ‘…Penfolds would sell a wine like this for $200.’ Cooper Burns Reserve 2010 is old vine, barrel select Barossa Shiraz, aged to perfection. Just 100 dozen bottles were made. It is explosively rich, thick and unctuous, oozing chocolate and liquorice, blackberries and plums, moving into leathery notes and finishing with fine tannins. Finally, the Cheshire Cat is a stunning modern Shiraz from one of the best vintages in the Barossa Valley in living memory. Polished black with exceptional intensity of black and blue fruits, this is stunning now and will just keep getting better over the next 10 years.
