Leading the way, the Picardy, an 11 clone masterpiece with most of the clones sourced direct from Grand Cru growers in Burgundy and most of those retained by the Pannell's for use in Picardy Pinot only. Little wonder this is one of the most fancied Pinot in the country at the moment. Next up Heirloom's Velvet Fog, a powerful, almost muscular wine which is elevated by its nuanced red fruit perfume. Riposte's Dagger is light to medium bodied with delicate aromatics and the Solaris is another Adelaide Hills Pinot with plenty of flavour and an excellent texture.
Quality pinot which is relaxed and ready to drink. Plenty of red fruit fragrance here, plenty of spice, wild mushroom and cured meat on the palate, and a fleshiness which quality Pinot always seems to offer.
Pinot Noir is Bill and Dan Pannell’s great love, especially the Pinots of Burgundy. With every year Bill and Dan get a little closer to making the ‘perfect pinot’. When our buyer Matt left Picardy (he was vineyard serf and assistant winemaker until 2003), the wine was made from 5 clones, including the highly prized Burgundian selection ‘777’ which Bill Pannell spent close to a decade getting into Australia. You’ll now find a number of Aussie wineries with 777 planted, all thanks to the hard work of the Pannells. Today the Pinot is made from 11 individual clones, 6 of which have been sourced from Corton, Burgundy. Whilst the wine was excellent back in the early 2000’s, it is now superb, one the best Pinot Noirs made in Australia, year in, year out. The 2021 is perfectly balanced, structured, chalky, elegant and mineral. There are plenty of red fruits, spice, and cedar. The perfect balance of fine boned acidity, mouthfeel and texture makes this wine seem elegant and effortless, yet it is incredibly powerful and deep. Tannins on the finish are glassine in a very Burgundian fashion. Magnificent.
Sorry, this product is not available individually, only in packs.
A very expressive nose, offering purple Pinot perfume and pristine red fruit aromatics, along with spice. The palate is big by Pinot standards, laden with strawberries, savories, spice, salinity and beetroot. Sensational value.
Typically fresh and zesty. this edition of the Dagger is brimful of with fresh red and forest fruits and more power than we've seen in recent vintages. A modern Pinot in style and unashamedly medium bodied and made to enjoy over the next 5-6 years. The fruit here is quite concentrated and we reckon this is the best Dagger for a few years.

Chardonnay sits on the fence of many a wine enthusiast. Versatile, kind in nature and oh so compliant, however for most it's still dressed in attire that's so distinctly... 90s. Shoulder pads, overalls and bike shorts saw this particular version of white wine with such a wooded vengeance, we were practically asking the chefs to take the butter out of the meals to make way for it. Thankfully however, times are a changin'. Underneath all that 90s getup reveals elegance and sophistication and Australia is doing its bit to make Chardy interesting again. Read Full Article
