The Revelation Mixed Baker's Dozen

Having sold a boatload of VIP dozens of late, we've been asked to produce a similarly high-end mixed dozen - so here it is, and we've made it a baker's doz!

Coming your way:

2 x Wicks Pamela Sparkling - a bready, toasty, yeasty, trophy winning sparkling which is as good as anything we can produce here in Oz.

2 x Jeanneret Sevenhill Riesling - a 96-point stunner which is both fragrant and light on its feet but with a beautifully intense core of citrus.

2 x Jean Loron Chardy... aka French Chardonnay, aka, White Burgundy. we've had lots of our wine industry mates grabbing this from us and with good reason - it is glorious!

2 x Lone Palm Hillside Shiraz - 96 points from a coupl'a wine writers and often compared to Grange - this offers superb fruit but is not so dense and oaked that it can't be enjoyed now. Getting better with every passing month.

2 x Yaldara Grand Cuvée Shiraz '21. Mean, black, intense, complex. Decant - the dark and malevolent core of this beast just keeps unfurling as you feed it air!

2 x Angas King Reserve Shiraz. 7 years of age and with another 7 (minimum) ahead of it. Great on days 1, even better a day after opening. So fresh, with superb fruit and a bit of spice.

So, withour the 13th bottle, we're already at $1,280 worth of superbity (if saying said same is not evidence of absurdity) for $565.

As this is being hidden as a VIP offer, we're comfortable to include a 13th bottle: Kilikanoon's Revelation Shiraz. Made only occasionally (5 releases since 2010), this is made in tiny quantities (100-200 dozen) and is genuinely breathtaking. We've taken it to 2 blind tastings.

Tasting 1 included Penfolds Grange - and everyone in the room named the Kilikanoon wine of the night, after the wines had been tasted but before their identities were revealed!

Tasting 2 - wine of the night went to a Bordeaux costing several thousand dollars a bottle. The Revelation did come out in front of the Grange though!

All up $1,830 worth for just $565!

Just a few barrels were made of this incredible Shiraz made from the best parcels of fruit grown by Kilikanoon in 2016. Complex and refined, this wine offers blackberries, cherry, milk and dark chocolate, incredible quality French oak, effusive acidity and perfectly modulated tannins. It has massive fruit intensity AND will cellar for 20 years plus.

Sorry, this product is not available individually, only in packs.

96pts Sam Kim, 94pts Kim Brebach
The 2021 Yaldara Grand is a straight Shiraz, owing to the concentration and profundity of the Shiraz fruit from this vintage. Unsurprisingly, this offers more power and concentration than any previous vintage. A massive, deep and complex expression of the best bits of the Barossa Valley. Dark chocolate, liquorice, tobacco leaf, blue and black fruits, cedar, cassis, plums, cherries, spice and plenty of cedary oak and tannins. Incredible.

An explosive Barossa Shiraz from low yielding, old vineyards in Marananga and Stonewell, planted to the R6 and 1654 clones. There’s old vine fruit from Greenock, the vines so old that the clonal selection is unknown. Matured in a combination of new French and older American oak, this is a stunning Barossa Shiraz offering dense black fruits, blue fruits, blackberries, coffee, graphite, chocolate, minerals, liquorice, spice, blueberries, cedar and firm tannins. Stunning.

Rich, black, dark, deep, powerfully fruited and structured with a decent lick of oak. Old school but drinking beautifully thanks to its age. Blackcurrant, black olives, bay leaf, dark chocolate, zesty acidity and cedary oak make this a powerful pleasure right now. Will continue to improve tho, for at least a decade.

A stunning White Burgundy, aka Chardonnay, from a legendary producer who has been fermenting grapes since 1711. Bill Nanson, of the Burgundy Report, first tasted this wine 3 years ago, offering ‘More complexity and vibrance to this aroma – more barrel too ... a wine that’s more about the future. Wide, saline, concentrated, and certainly mineral. The finish is subtle but very persistent. You should give this wine at least 3 years in the cellar – or I would anyway. Excellent wine, with the potential for great.’ So, we’ve waited 3 years and the wine is ravishingly beautiful – voluptuous yet structured, pendulously stonefruity yet mineral, with a lovely cheese edge that comes from barrel worked and lees stirred Chardonnay. Magic stuff.

When Riesling is this good it reminds us that Clare Riesling is truly world class. This has just picked up 96 points from Sam Kim who describes it beautifully, with the following words, 'This is precise and brilliantly detailed, showing lime sorbet, fresh fig and delicate floral notes on the nose, followed by a superbly concentrated palate offering excellent fruit purity and finesse. It’s wonderfully supported by elegant texture and lively acidity with a sustained, structured finish.'

Gold, Top Gold, Trophy Wine Show of Western Australia
Truly a modern classic, this Adelaide Hill Sparkling is all about high-quality fruit spending 5 years on lees to develop texture and complexity. There’s a full, rich mouthfeel and texture and delicate toasty notes of warm honey, brioche, ginger, grapefruit, green apple, and more. The length and intensity are fantastic.
