The 2018 exceeds the power and complexity of the 2017 vintage, adding a rich sheen of plum and fig to the mix of violet, blueberry, dark chocolate and five spice. Excellent acidity and plenty of fine French oak here too. Decant for several hours before drinking.
A varietal and regional expression of Clare Valley Cabernet with piercing clarity of fruit, which is to say, an absolute delight. Violets, blackberries, plum, sage, bay leaf, mint, liquorice, curlicues of French oak and fine, waxy, supple tannins. Off script though, because this is massive - a huge mouthful - and yet expressive, somehow elegant, with a fluidity of movement and visibility of detail which belie the hulking muscularity. Imagine a director firing Nureyev as the male lead in Swan Lake because Chewbacca auditioned better. Then pour another glass.

Serious, old vines Grenache this- with a degree of intensity you don’t always find in Grenache. As with the incredible first vintage which sold out in just a few months, the 22 is bolstered with the inclusion of some powerful, low yielding, old vine Shiraz. The tannins are plentiful and savoury, the fruits black, flecked with reds and tightly coiled. Needs decanting, Officially awesome!
When Riesling is this good it reminds us that Clare Riesling is truly world class. This has just picked up 96 points from Sam Kim who describes it beautifully, with the following words, 'This is precise and brilliantly detailed, showing lime sorbet, fresh fig and delicate floral notes on the nose, followed by a superbly concentrated palate offering excellent fruit purity and finesse. It’s wonderfully supported by elegant texture and lively acidity with a sustained, structured finish.'

There’s a full, rich mouthfeel and texture and delicate toasty notes of warm honey, brioche, ginger, grapefruit, green apple, and more. The length and intensity are fantastic.
Since 1996, Chris Thomas has maintained a shiraz solera which form part of this lip smacking sparkling. The solera contains some of the best shiraz Chris has made over the last 20+ years and is used sparingly and exclusively to add the finishing touches to his sparkling shiraz each year and adds depth of flavour and complexity. This is sparkling shiraz as we love it- opulent, slightly sweet, with richness, complexity, oak and plenty of fine tannins. That structure combined with flavours of blackberry, cherry. dark chocolate and spice making this a perfect accompaniment to protein, like roast chook, bacon and eggs, etc. It's bloody good.
