Santa's Last Minute Icing On Top
Santa cracked it. Big time. The elves had come up with the greatest present idea ever, then drank too much mead and got it to Santa too late for him to get it down chimneys on Chrissie Eve.
So Santa gave the elves a spray, sent 'em home and hopped on the blower to us.
'You want these?' He asked us..
'Ummm, sure...' We said...
So now were sharing 'em with you.

Just the fourth release of Yaldara Grand, and arguably the best so far, with its incredible concentration of fruit and use of exceptional oak. A big wine and a complex expression of the Barossa. Milk and dark chocolate, aniseed, blue fruits, tobacco leaf, plus plenty of cedary oak and tannin. Incredible.
Its bigger than Pinot, and of course has a different flavour profile, but in the UK plenty of punters who drink Pinot are equally enamoured of Bardolino. 'But it is made from the same grapes as Amarone', we hear you say. It is, and Bardolino is only half an hour from that region, but the wines are altogether brighter and far more delicate than you'll find there. This Bardolino sees about 6 months in oak, followed by some time in tank prior to bottling – red fruits and violet form the nose. It is red fruity, pulpy and fleshy and finishes tight and dry, with excellent length, minerality, plenty of acid and fine tannins. Drink it with rich meaty dishes or oily fish. Definitely a food wine and absolutely worth decanting.
Minuscule production from a tiny close-planted block. A little tight at first, but that’s the sign of a Cabernet with decades ahead of it. Decant, or open and give it 30 minutes in the glass, and you’ll find layered black and blue fruits, spice, liquorice, dried herbs and espresso notes. Structured and savoury, with fine gravelly tannins and cedary oak. Impressive now, excellent tomorrow, and likely superb for 10–20 years.
