Dandelion Wonderland of the Eden Valley Riesling 2013

Special Price $22.00 Regular Price $30.00
This intense offering features citrus and bath powder aromatics (swoon) and a pebbly mineral/citrus pallet. Enjoy as an aperitif or with seafood. The vineyard is 100 years old and the wine will cellar for 10 but that would require more discipline than we have.

About the winery:  "Our vineyards are our family, their wines our children. Serious stuff, certainly. Emotional approach, why not. Proper fun, absolutely. The lifelong search to appreciate and also understanding the truth of wine, that is its terroir, leads us on a vinous treasure hunt, following the Dandelion’s Wishing Clock if you will. A quest that never ceases to inspire.

"Dandelion Vineyards is an adventurous and challenging fusion of vineyards and vignerons. Our wines represent decades of experience, blending the fruit of our heirloom vineyards with the finest traditions of artisan winemaking. Dandelion Vineyards combination of old vineyards and young winemaker, with a couple of mates to help out in-between is the core element, we believe, for an ideal winery. We want to share the satisfaction and delight of our new venture which is why we really do wish you were here...

"Cheers, Elena, Carl, Robyn, Brad, Zar and Madison the Dog."

Adjacent to the eastern edge of the Barossa Valley, Eden Valley is not actually a valley. Allegedly, early settlers found the word "Eden" scratched into a tree and named the town Eden Valley. What we do know is that it produces fantastic riesling and chardonnay, having a cooler, higher-altitude climate than the Barossa. Reds of great merit come from here as well, with producers like Henschke dazzling tasters worldwide. Soil is dry and sandy, laying across windswept hills. A bit of a challenge for growers, with vineyards scattered throughout the region to take advantage of winter rainfall and the cooler temperatures. Altitude is 400-600 metres above ... Riesling is a white grape variety which originated in the Rhine region of Germany. Riesling is an aromatic grape variety displaying flowery, almost perfumed, aromas as well as high acidity. It is used to make dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling white wines. Riesling wines are usually varietally pure and are seldom oaked. As of 2004, Riesling was estimated to be the world's 20th most grown variety at 48,700 hectares (120,000 acres) with an increasing trend. In terms of importance for quality wines, it is usually included in the "top three" white wine varieties together with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Riesling is a variety which is highly "terroir ... Read Full Article

Riesling would be my first choice for this salmon dish, winedirect.com.au came through with an absolute CRACKER! Patrick of Coonawarra 2012 aged Riesling, this has to be one of the best rieslings I've tasted in a while.

Pork and Black Pudding Burger

This might seem like a strange one, but I can honestly say that this combo really works. Usually, when you think of burgers you lean towards a beer, or even a nice glass of red. The freshness of the apple, spice coming through from the tomato jam, and the addition of pork had me leaning towards a Riesling.
