Serious, old vines Grenache this- with a degree of intensity you don’t always find in Grenache. As with the incredible first vintage which sold out in just a few months, the 22 is bolstered with the inclusion of some powerful, low yielding, old vine Shiraz. The tannins are plentiful and savoury, the fruits black, flecked with reds and tightly coiled. Needs decanting, Officially awesome! Learn More
A favourite here at WD which we have stocked every vintage of to date. This release is both powerful and refined, with bright red and black fruits, cracked pepper and Turkish delight complexed by cinnamon, nutmeg and blackberry gel before finishing with a crescendo of fine tannins. Learn More
The Martins has maintained the exceptionally high standard it set with the 2018 vintage. Fruits are blacks and blues, with blueberries, blackberries, olive tapenade, cedar and vanilla populating a powerful and long palate. The tannins are polished, waxy and plentiful. The overall package, outstanding! Learn More
An Iron fist in a velvet glove, featuring big tannins and even bigger fruit. Grapes were taken from the revered Stonegarden vineyard, planted in 1858. Aromas and flavours can best be described as dark! Plums, chocolate, pudding, spice, cinnamon and more. Complex, beguiling, deep, and delicious! Learn More
This is thrilling! It’s old-school but perfectly balanced. ‘Tis packed with uber ripe, suppurating black fruits, dark cherry, compote, notes of furniture polish and spice, black pepper, chocolate, tobacco, and leather. The richness is tamed with good acidity, providing a backbone for all that expressiveness to hang on to and in so doing, show to best effect. Stunning! Worth getting in touch with us for mate's rates on this one. Learn More
This is a brilliantly concentrated wine full of layers of flavour, texture and richness. Halliday’s ratings for the previous 10 vintages read thus... 97, 97, 95, 96, 97, 95, 96, 95, 96, 95... and this is as good as the very best vintage produced to date, perhaps a smidge better. Produced from a heritage plot of 120+ year old McLaren Vale vines, it will cellar 30 years plus. Learn More
A wonderful prosecco style sparkling that is no one trick pony! Aperitif, tick. Proscuitto pizza or antipasti, tick. Seafood, tick. Might not work with a massive slab of beef. Lots of sherbet, apples, spice, ginger and even a hint of lemon curd here. A genuinely lovely wine. Learn More
A properly stunning Cabernet from the Langhorne Creek. We’ve now tasted this several times and can’t quite believe we’re able to offer this beast at just over $13 a bottle in this secret. There’s an explosion of blackcurrants and violets perfumed with dried herbs. Length, balance and the fine tannin finish are note perfect. A joy to drink already, this should also improve for 5-8 years. Goes very nicely with a seared lamb backstrap. Learn More
A gorgeous, Langhorne Creek Shiraz sourced from a 50-year-old vineyard which you can pick up here for $14 a bottle, rather than the RRP of $35! What’s not to love? This is mid-weight and fruit intense, offering plenty of red and black fruits, peppers, spice, and plenty of toasty oak and dusty tannins to finish. Should cellar well in the medium term and works beautifully with a rare or medium-rare steak. Learn More
Hard to go past this Rosé sixer. First up, Curator Wine Co’s waltermelon, strawberry and spice laden blend of Montepulciano and Grenache. Next stop, Lloyd Brothers' lovely gold winner, packed with strawberries, red apples, and fresh red berries. Finally, the Colab and Bloom Grenache Rosé with a gold medal and 93pts already. Spice, Strawberries, redcurrants, and rosewater. It is a cracker. Learn More
The 2017 is a worthy successor to the exceptional 2015 and 2016 vintages which scored 96 and 97 points respectively while earning the following praise from wine writer Kim Brebach... 'Penfolds would charge $200 for a wine like this'. The 2017, from a slightly cooler vintage, adds savoury notes to the trademark intense black fruits and spice. The oak is high quality and beautifully integrated and tannins are elegant in both their sufficiency and application. This is good now and has a very bright future ahead. Learn More
We loved the 2019 – it was the #1 wine out of 40 on our tasting panel. This is better- with greater intensity of fruit while still retaining the polish and balance of the previous vintage. There are blue and black fruits, spice, cedar and plenty of fine tannins. An exceptional Barossa Valley Shiraz. Learn More
