Chateau Yaldara CY Shiraz 2015

Special Price $15.00 Regular Price $17.00
James Halliday says it beautifully ‘This is a hedonistic, raring, bumptious wine for the price. For those who like varietal purity, oomph and some winemaking massage, this is for you. Floral. Blueberry and plum mingle with smoked baby-back ribs rubbed with anise, tapenade and pepper. Juicy and winning.’

1847 Wines and Chateau Yaldara are the same beast. The reference to 1847 in the full winery branding (1847 / Yaldara Wines) is a tad confusing perhaps, referring to the year the Governor granted the land on which the property resides. It is also the same year in which Johann Gramp first planted vines in the Barossa. Yaldara Estate itself was founded a hundred years later when Hermann Thumm began making Barossa wines. The word Yaldara comes from a local indigenous word meaning sparkling.

No one aroma can be called "typical" though blackberry and pepper are often noticed. With time in the bottle these "primary" notes are moderated and then supplemented with earthy or savory "tertiary" notes such as leather and truffle.

"Secondary" flavor and aroma notes are those associated with several things, generally winemakers' practices (such as oak barrel and yeast regimes).
