Why We Chose This Wine

A beautifully textured Waipara Pinot Gris showing ripe pear, white peach and stone fruit aromas, with a generous palate of orchard fruit, gentle spice and refreshing acidity. Rich, flavourful and incredibly food friendly. This leans towards the styles of Alsace, which are picked ripe and retain a little residual sugar which gives them a wonderful texture and makes them a brilliant match for moderately spicy dishes, especially with Asian flavours as well a being perfect with a big bowl of fresh fries or wedges.

Camshorn is a brand belonging to the Vinarchy Wine Group who also own Petaluma, Hardys, St Hugo, Grant Burge and St Hallett in addition to high end brands in New Zealand and Spain. They make a lot of exceptional high end wines and plenty of quality commercial stuff too.

The wines produced from this grape also vary in colour from a deep golden yellow to copper and even a light shade of pink, and it is one of the more popular grapes for orange wine. In Australia

Pinot Gris was first introduced into Australia in 1832 in the collection of grapes brought by James Busby. In Victoria, wines from the grape are labeled both Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio, depending on the sweetness of wine with the drier wines being labeled Pinot Grigio.
