Ca’ Botta Costa Rossa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC 2014
Rated by Vivino as amongst the top 1% of all wines in the world this is also for the most part their highest rated Ripasso and is a multiple gold medal winner. ‘Superiore’ on the label means this wine is produced from the wineries highest grade of fruit. ‘Ripasso’ means repassed… a process whereby the fermented wine has pressed Amarone skins added to it, which kicks off a second fermentation and softens tannins white adding body, complexity and richness. This is mid weight to full bodied smooth and juicy. An ethereal pallet offers black cherries, blackberries, pepper, red liquorice and spice all complexed by cedar. Approx. 1.8 kg of fruit are required to make each bottle!
