Beaut Black Shiraz for $12.50 a Bottle

We’re always stoked to rip the lid off a bottle that tastes like $20+ but has set us back just twelve fiddy. Here’s your chance to join in on the fun. Reporting on the Johnston, Kim Brebach wrote: ‘A real surprise packet: a substantial red at a bargain price. Lots of seductive red fruits and dark chocolate, complex flavours and a decent tannin finish. And it will get better with a few more years in a dark place.’ Pertaringa’s Undercover probably doesn’t need an introduction but just in case... this is consistently one of the best value wines coming out of McLaren Vale. Rrp is $25 and this vintage unsurprisingly has a heap of accolades, with 95 from Wine Showcase Mag, 94 from Winestate, and Sam Kim too. It’s black fruits, smoothness, cedar and polish. Finally the red Deer Station Shiraz is off a 50 y.o. vineyard. It offers rich, ripe, dark berries dressed in toasty oak, infused with pepper and spice, and a whiff of the gum leaf / eucalyptus character Langhorne Creek is known for. All up, this pack offers exceptional value for just $12.50 a bottle!

    92pts Kim Brebach
Black in colour this is a fairly well-fruited beast. There are blue and black fruits, mocha, spice, French oak and plenty of chalky tannins to finish. Very polished and satisfying. Perfect with something meaty.
    Langhorne Creek, SA
    93pts Kim Brebach
A quality, medium bodied Shiraz sourced from 50 year old Langhorne Creek vines. Juicy red fruits are bolstered by good acidity. The wine finished with vanilla, spindles of oak and fine tannins.
    McLaren Vale, SA
Gold Medal, 94pts Sam Kim, 94pts Winestate Magazine
A cracking drop this with florals, plums and pepper on the nose. There are dense black fruits on the palate along with spice. The finish here is long and strong. Pair this up with a hearty beef dish.
