Rusden’s magical 2024 Trousseau is reason enough to buy this pack. Fragrant, silky and utterly delicious, it’s a reminder that some of Australia’s most exciting reds don’t begin with “Shiraz” or “Cabernet”.
Plus, the Curtis Durif is back — as black and brooding as ever. The previous vintage was a customer favourite, and we’re pleased to have it back in the lineup.
Mecklen’s Grenache comes from tiny parcels off century-old Barossa vines, delivering fragrance, intensity and real complexity. Alongside it, a vibrant Nero d’Avola we expect will catch serious attention from critics once it gets wider tastings, plus an ancient Georgian Saperavi and a beautifully lifted Graciano round out the mix.
This is a dozen for curious drinkers who value discovery as much as quality. Every bottle comes from a producer we’d happily recommend on merit alone — regardless of grape variety.

Durif is the genetic offspring of Shiraz and Pelourisin. It’s rare and we love it here at WD. It is drought tolerant and retains acidity and bright fruit even when very ripe. Handled well it makes fruit dense yet lively wines with an inky core and a strong spine of acidity. Winemakers use phrases like ‘Shiraz on steroids' and ‘akin to drinking fountain pen ink’ to describe it. This Curtis edition is a little more elegant than most and packs plums, blackberries, black cherries, black olive, vanilla, cedar and more into a thyme spritzed packaged which is gorgeously sumptuous
Stunning dry grown, old vine Barossa Grenache, this. Probably should be upwards of $100 a bottle. Incredibly expressive black and red fruits, soul stirring aromatics and a wonderful spiced and cedary finish. Magnificent.
A superb Nero offering fragrant red and blue fruits. The medium-bodied, vibrant palate conjures blueberries, violets, maraschino cherry, and pepper. A lick of cedar and the loveliest of fine tannins provide the intense fruit with a soft landing, striking a perfect balance between energetic brightness and savoury complexity. This is a beautifully structured, highly expressive drop.
Saperavi is probably the world's oldest cultivated grape variety. It comes from Georgia, bordered by Russia, Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and the Black Sea. It has a deep, inky colour and features flavours of bold dark berries, plums, and spice. It's a full-bodied wine known for its structure, fine tannins, and a savoury, dark-chocolate-tinged finish. Delicious.
Medium bodied, fragrant and delicious. Sage, violets, oregano, mulberry, white pepper, smoked meat, liquorice and a red fruit stone fruit mild bitterness to finish. Super engaging aromatically and complex on the palate, this is a delightful wine.
