The South Aussie 2021 Vintage Red Baker's Dozen
    Wines In This Pack
    McLaren Vale, SA
97pts Kim Brebach, 96pts Sam Kim, 95pts Ray Jordan, Gold AWC

Bright red fruit wrapped in the silk and spice you’d expect from a classic McLaren Vale Shiraz. Generous yet balanced, with a vibrant acidity that lifts the fruit. Layers of well-integrated oak add structure, making this a wine that will cellar beautifully for 10+ years.

Worth getting in touch with us for mate's rates on this one.

    Barossa Valley, SA
96pts Sam Kim, 94pts Kim Brebach
The 2021 Yaldara Grand is a straight Shiraz, owing to the concentration and profundity of the Shiraz fruit from this vintage. Unsurprisingly, this offers more power and concentration than any previous vintage. A massive, deep and complex expression of the best bits of the Barossa Valley. Dark chocolate, liquorice, tobacco leaf, blue and black fruits, cedar, cassis, plums, cherries, spice and plenty of cedary oak and tannins. Incredible.
    Clare Valley, SA
94pts Wine Orbit, 94pts Ken Gargett
Offering mouthfuls of dark plum, juicy blackberries and a touch of dark cherry pie, this is a seductive classic Clare Shiraz. Delve into aromas of spiced plums, dark chocolate, and smooth oak. This powerful yet elegant drop is sure to please with smooth, fine tannins. Given some time in the glass, it will really open up. Grab a bottle, pour a glass (or two!), and warm your bones beside the fire of this Shiraz/Dark Side of the Moon. Enjoy!
    McLaren Vale, SA
    95pts Andrew Caillard
A beautifully silky and expressive mid-weight shiraz. Blackberries, plums, chocolate, with red fruits and great acidity too. While it is midweight, the fruit concentration is excellent and will satisfy you if you like your wines on the big side. A cracker, which will only improve with time.
    Adelaide Hills, SA
96pts James Halliday, 12 Gold medal
One of the most insane quality to price ratios on the planet. Hand tended vines are picked by a Pellenc select harvester, which pick just the absolute best fruit. 12 separate clones of Shiraz are fermented separately using wild yeast, given extended maceration on skins and matured in French oak for 15 months. Finally, only the best barrels are blended and bottled. That sounds to us like most high-end producer's $60-$100+ Shiraz. No surprise this has picked up 96 points from Halliday and 12 gold medals.
    Clare Valley, SA
2021 was a magnificent vintage, as this bottle attests. Black and blue fruits abound, along with spice and cedar. Length here and persistence are exemplary. Give it a decant before drinking or hang onto it for a decade or more.
    Clare Valley, SA
    96pts Wine Pilot, Gold Medal
An absolute stunner sourced from a 78 year old vineyard, with the fruit spending over a year in old French oak puncheons. Blue fruits, cranberry, strawberries, black cherries, dried herbs and spice. Exceptionally concentrated yet with electric clarity of fruit. Worth decanting as the wine grows in stature as it breathes. An absolute pleasure to drink.

    Clare Valley, SA
Gold, Top Gold and Trophy for best Grenache in Show Royal Adelaide Wine Show
Winner of Gold and Top Gold at the Adelaide Show and subsequently awarded the Trophy for best Grenache in show. An exceptional, medium bodied, old vine offering matured for 15 month in old oak, offering wonderful aromatics. Soft fruit is made mouthwatering thanks to excellent acidity.

    Blewitt Springs, SA
95pts Sam Kim, 95pts Kim Brebach
Only tiny quantities are made of the Dowie Doole Architect wines, which are the product of the finest of Dowie Doole's A-grade fruit from each vintage ('21 being an incredible vintage has elevated this even further). The '21 is exceptional, and represents a barrel selection chosen from only A-grade parcels from the old, dry-grown Blewitt Springs vineyard. There's brightness with density of blue and black fruits, cedary oak, gravelly tannins and exceptional length.
    McLaren Vale, SA
95pts Sam Kim, 95pts Kim Brebach, 92pts James Halliday, 2 Gold
Durif is the genetic offspring of Shiraz and Pelourisin. It’s rare and we love it here at WD. It is drought tolerant and retains acidity and bright fruit even when very ripe. Handled well it makes fruit-dense yet lively wines with an inky core and a strong spine of acidity. Winemakers use phrases like ‘Shiraz on steroids' and ‘akin to drinking fountain pen ink’ to describe it. This Curtis edition is a little more elegant than most and packs plums, blackberries, black cherries, black olive, vanilla, cedar, and more into a thyme spritzed package which is gorgeously sumptuous.
    Limestone Coast, SA
    2 x Gold Medal
This is a gorgeously vibrant blend of Shiraz and Cab from the Limestone Coast. It has heady perfume of red fruits, blue fruits and florals leading to a palate bursting with cranberry, blackcurrants, mint, cedar and a hint of eucalypt
    Barossa Valley, SA
94pts Sam Kim, 93pts Kim Brebach
One tiny 80 year old Barossa Grenache vineyard. 100% whole bunch. 12 months in French oak. Mid weight, with delightful red fruits, spice and cedar. Sandy tannins to finish- a cracker.
    Adelaide Hills, SA
    95pts Sam Kim
A later pick from one sub section of a single vineyard. Just a touch more concentration and ripeness on offer here than can be found in the non reserve version. Sweet fruit, savoury aspects, cedary oak and sandy tannins. Lovely.
