A beautifully balanced and intense riesling sourced from Alkoomi’s first plantings (1971) plus a block they planted to the Geisenheim clone in 2003. Only free run juice is used here, the finished wine offering blossoms, lime zest, lime juice, grapefruit, mineral acidity and an exceptional structure which will see it improve in bottle for a decade or more.

Alkoomi has grown from a single hectare of vines planted nearly 50 years ago into an 80000 case brand. Not a bad feat for what is one of the most remote vineyards on the planet, situated some 300kms from the most remote Capital city on earth. The key to Alkoomi’s success has always been their motto ‘quality over quantity’.

In terms of importance for quality wines, it is usually included in the "top three" white wine varieties together with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Riesling is a variety which is highly "terroir-expressive", meaning that the character of Riesling wines is clearly influenced by the wine's place of origin.
