Wines In This Pack
Barossa Valley, SA
97pts Kim Brebach, 97pts Sam Kim, 95pts Wine Pilot
Handpicked grapes from an 80-year-old contoured vineyard in Gomersal. Long slow fermentation including 10% whole bunch over 10 days before basket pressing into 30% new French and 70% older oak. A spicy and brightly fruited nose leads to a palate with exceptional concentration and structure. Red fruits, black fruits, compote, coffee grounds, plum, star anise, cocoa powder, black tea and fine, powdery tannins to finish. Really beautifully balanced.
McLaren Vale, SA
96pts Sam Kim, 93pts Wine Advocate
A groundbreaking Aussie Cabernet in as much as it is made in the Amarone style, with grapes air dried for up to 8 weeks prior to fermentation. It is both concentrated and ethereal with florals and black tea on the nose – the palate awash with chocolate, coffee, cassis, blueberries, herbs, licorice and minerality. Double or triple decant a few hours before drinking.
Eden Valley, SA
96pts Sam Kim, 96pts James Halliday
Bush vine Grenache from the revered Stonegarden vineyard which was planted in 1858. This was wild fermented using 100% whole bunches, after which the wine spent time on lees in old French oak for 12 months. Exceptional poise and depth of flavour, velvety fruit, fine boned acidity, slightly grainy tannins and a very long finish. Magnificent.
McLaren Vale, SA
95pts Ken Gargett, 94pts Jeni Port, 91pts James Halliday
A beautifully silky Shiraz with all the trimmings. Bramble and succulent dark fruits, interlaced with trademark Vale chocolate hits are pinned together with delicious savoury herbs and spices that are all finished with fine tannins and perfect length.
Clare Valley, SA
95pts Wine Pilot, 94pts Kim Brebach
A wonderfully old fashioned style of Shiraz this, aged in old oak and released at 5 years of age – ready to drink! This is balanced and fresh, offering dark fruits, savoury notes, cherries, liquorice, middle eastern spices, white pepper and eucalyptus. Drink any time over the next 10 years.
