So much to love here, starting with a great saving. Four bottles apiece of exceptional Shiraz, plus a 13th bottle of 97 point Shiraz from Dandelion… here’s the low down on each of them…
4 x Zilzie Ferghana Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley Shiraz 2019
Lush with deep rich black fruits, cedar, liquorice, cigar box and plentiful fine tannins! An exceptional premium Shiraz that works wonderfully now with meat and will improve for up to a decade.
4 x Curtis Limited McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016
96pts Kim Brebach, 96pts Sam Kim, 94pts James Halliday
Rippingly good, fine boned yet full bodied McLaren Vale Shiraz. We reckon this one will improve with cellaring for 20 years, such is its structure and power of fruit. Lots of black and blue fruits here, along with aristocratic spindles of cedary oak.
4 x Murray Street Black Label Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016
94pts Kim Brebach
This is warm, black fruited and spicy Barossa Shiraz which is both packed with flavour and easy to drink. There’s blackberry, pepper, plum and a gentle brush of oak leading to a fine tannin finish. Moreish!
1 x Dandelion Firehawk Farm McLaren Vale Shiraz 2018
97pts Kim Brebach, 2 Gold Medals
This is just the second release of Firehawk Farm which is produced from Dandelion’s finest vineyard. There is mammoth concentration of fruit here and perfect integration of fruit, oak and acid. This morphs into an absolute stunner as is breathes and opens over several days. Sweet fruit, searing acidity, savoury complexities, chocolate, graphite and blue fruits are all on show along with earthiness, cedar and plenty of tannin. This might just be the McLaren Vale’s best Shiraz.
