We’ve had more than a few requests for a Pinot Gris (or Pinot Grigio) 6 pack so here it is. 2 bottles apiece of the exceptional Artis PG, packed with fruit and linear acid, plus Monterra's fruit laden and linear beauty and rounded out with the absolutely magnificent Riposte PG, made by legends Tim and Nick Knappstein.
3 bottles apiece of 4 excellent Pinot Noir here. Lightest of these is the Riposte, a red fruited and spiced released with plenty of svelte swirliness. Heirloom’s Velvet Fog is a superbly scented and beautifully drawn medium bodied Pinot of the highest quality... goes very nicely with aniseed tea duck. The Levantine is light to medium, with pristine varietal fruit and Heirloom’s Alcazar is also medium bodied, 50% whole bunch fermented and treated to 50% brand new French oak. It offers cherries, strawberries, herbs, and lavender. Serious fruit here, great length and a lovely texture.
You might think that for 13 bucks a bottle you’d be stocking up on drain cleaner or quaffers for Friday night in front of your fave streaming service. Nope! Every wine in this pack is lovely! The Red Deer is midweight and complex, the Brickfielder a full throttle, 95 point McLaren Vale stunner. The Yarra Celebration is light to medium but savoury and with lovely fruit - and the Scepter Barossa Cab is a beast worthy of a T-Bone. Finally, the 13th bottle is Curtis' Small Batch, Old Vine, 96 point McLaren Vale Shiraz, a magical wine with exceptional depth of flavour.
Grenache from former Penfolds Growers, Old Vine Grenache which has just picked up 95 from Sam Kim and Kim Brebach. Complex 2018 Bordeaux, magnificent 95 point Grenache from Dandelion which was sourced entirely from their Firehawk Farm vineyard and a magic blend of air-dried Corvina, Rondinella and Merlot from the Veneto. All of these have been through the tasting panel and been thumbsed up- so you can grab one of these sixers with confidence.
