919 Wines Tempranillo 2015

This is not a light, wafty, hipster Tempranillo. It’s a huge, confronting wave of generous black fruits, structural tannins and acidity. Consider having it with a massive lump of steak if you are going to get into it now. Otherwise cellar for 5 -10 years. This might just be the biggest, baddest Aussie Tempranillo on the market at the moment.

Allow us to prattle on a little more about this...

Eric and Jenny Semmler have been involved in the wine industry since 1986, and share a passion for the fortified wines of Australia. Eric previously made fortified wines for Hardy Wine Company at Berri Estates, and worked at Brown Brothers in Malawa. Jenny has worked for Strathbogie Vineyards, Pennyweight Wines, St Huberts and Constellation Wines.

919 concentrate on producing varieties that thrive in the hotter parts of the Mediterranean. In whites they produce Vermentino and Petit Manseng. In reds they make Sangiovese. Touriga, Shiraz and stunning Tempranillo and Durif. Their reds are big without being excessively alcoholic or over oaked and offer powerful yet refined fruit. We love 'em.
