2024 Super Loong Lunch Mixed Pack (incl. $50 donation)
We’re back again this year with another stellar line up of wines to help the excellent work done by the Super Loong Lunch team. We've gone a little continental this year and not only crammed these deals full of the best wines from around Australia, we've even brought a little Californian action to the mix.
As is now tradition, we like to make sure we have a couple of showstoppers in the mix every year, lead this year by the 96pt 2022 Lone Palm Hillside Shiraz valued at $120, this wine sold out in record time last vintage. Playing support act is the Curtis Small Batch Shiraz with all it's refined elegance. Making a second ever appearance this year is the Colab and Bloom Montepulciano, a wine that was easily crowd favourite a few years ago.
On the white side we have a stellar Lone Palm Riesling, all limey and mineral, there's an excellent Limestone Coast Chardy, new wines from Miss Zilm in the Clare Valley, First Creek's outstanding Vermentino and a Rosé from California that had our tasting bench gushing with superlatives!
To help as much as we can, here at winedirect.com.au, we will donate $50 for every dozen sold to aid efforts in this year's fundraiser.
ALSO, FREIGHT IS FREE TO ANYWHERE IN AUSTRALIA WHEN YOU PURCHASE A DOZEN OR MORE!
An explosive Barossa Shiraz from low yielding, old vineyards in Marananga and Stonewell, planted to the R6 and 1654 clones. There’s old vine fruit from Greenock, the vines so old that the clonal selection is unknown. Matured in a combination of new French and older American oak, this is a stunning Barossa Shiraz offering dense black fruits, blue fruits, blackberries, coffee, graphite, chocolate, minerals, liquorice, spice, blueberries, cedar and firm tannins. Stunning.

A black, plush, and full-bodied Shiraz made from 80-year-old vines. Exceptional fruit intensity here, and weight of black fruits on the palate. Opulence is balanced by judicious acidity and there’re plenty of tannins driving through to an epic conclusion. Decant if you are going to enjoy now, otherwise cellar!
Rich, black, dark, deep, powerfully fruited and structured with a decent lick of oak. Old school but drinking beautifully thanks to its age. Blackcurrant, black olives, bay leaf, dark chocolate, zesty acidity and cedary oak make this a powerful pleasure right now. Will continue to improve tho, for at least a decade.

A varietally fragrant, medium-bodied, and intensely fruited Cabernet from the Kilikanoon stable. Violets, black cherries, and blackcurrants announce themselves on the nose and then invite themselves in to lie on a plush bed of tannin fluffed atop a selection of gorgeous cedar. A superb Cab from perhaps the Clare Valley's finest producer.
The best vintage yet of this superb Monte from the Fleurieu Peninsula. A beautifully structured mid-weight wine. Powerful blue and black fruits, black cherry and bay leaf. Quite big by Monte standards with a decent lick of oak. Needs decanting to coax out the fruit suggesting that will be a long-lived wine.
Lush and aromatic, this beautifully slurpable Touriga Nacional offers blueberry, plum, blackberry, cocoa, red fruits and cinnamon. Wonderful at room temp, it is also great after 20 mins in the fridge. We love it.
A brilliantly drinkable sparkling made by Pizzini wines from King Valley Fruit. This is an exceptionally refreshing wine offering lemon sherbet, apples, powdered ginger and more. Works well as an aperitif, with antipasto, prosciutto pizza and seafood. We reckon you’ll definitely want a second glass.
Superb, small batch single vineyard PG from Keeda Zilm. Ultra classy this, with stonerfuits, white flowers, pear and apple on the nose. Similar on the palate with just a little classic Gris oiliness beginning to emerge. A bargain!
Another utterly delicious, world-class Vermentino, reminiscent of the best examples produced in Corsica. The nose is perfumed, the palate medium bodied and textural, with tropical and citrus flavours on the palate leading to a mineral finish. A ripper.
This exceptional wine from Santa Cruz in California will appeal to drinkers of Provence Rosé thanks to the varietals Grenache and Cinsault featuring prominently and the extended lees used in its production. The result is a brightly fruited wine with a creamy texture and excellent length … which is also why this wine will appeal to drinkers of quality buttery Chardonnay and aged Semillon. Wild strawberries, guava, peach, rhubarb and white pepper in evidence here. An absolute cracker.
An outstanding chardonnay, offering stonefruits, grapefruit, brioche, honeydew melon, spice, flintiness, great texture and length. If only all Chardonnay was like this.

Serious, old vines Riesling this- with an expressive florality backed by intense fruit, minerality and great length. White flowers, Tahitian lime, minerals and more. An absolute joy to drink!
