Whilst hailing from an unfashionable area this wine has consistently outperformed of it’s peers with vibrant herbaceous fruit and zesty structure, great value. Lemony grass on the nose and lots of characteristic fruit flavour with a bit of sweet. Superb. A great drop from a rising star boutique.

The trade in animal exotica these days is best conducted behind an occluding thicket of greenery and with very serious faces. Such are the risks, and rewards. This particular tinctural tinkle gives nod to said greenery with its abundance of dark, herbaceous Sauvignon intensity. Balancing that is the fine, oiled charm of Semillon which brings refinement with its hint of polish. Together these two are a safe bet, paying off with seafood in the company of likeminded coves.

Bonus Forest Hill Chardy on 6
BOB is not a particularly exciting truncation of a Winery name, so we won’t be using it here. Their wines however are stellar. In our opinion their chardy fruit is top 2 in the vale… and this wine reflects that class. As a marketing exercise mixing Chard and Viogner is tougher than trying to drive a truck while patting your dog and drinking a carton of iced coffee. As a drinking experience tho it is lovely. Lots of creamy and almond meal texturality along with strong stonefruit accents. This is a fantastic drink, worthy of a seafood platter. That being said it’ll monster Friday night pizza too (just skip the pineapple).

A smartly made blend that combines the riper tropical fruit flavours of Sauvignon Blanc with the citrus elements of Semillon. The small addition of Riesling adds enticing floral and lime aromatics. There’s a surprising amount of concentration for such an easy drinking white.

These guys are one of those artisanal producers who bung out outrageously good wines because they like em, without any great pretensions to becoming vastly wealthy. Ergo this beguiling single vineyard blend of Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Muscat Ottonel. Those of you who love the rich aromatic whites of Alsace will recognise this coupling I'm sure, and this is a great homage.

Crackerjack SBS
The tasting panel is not quite sure why it’s taken us so long to get onto these guys. Here’s a crackerjack SBS, a trophy winner with intensity of flavor. Lemon zest, passionfruit, pineapple, gooseberry and grassiness all in evidence here. Trophy and multiple gold medal winner.
