2010 Dandelion Damsel of the Barossa Merlot

Driven by lifted red fruits

Those dandy peeps, have their fingers in many pies. Pies are good. So are their wines, from trophy winning Shiraz, Cab and Riesling through to this soft and supple Barossan Merlot. Apparently the fruit comes of the oldest Merlot vines in the Valley. Fruit is dark and plummy … this is a great match for gourmet snags, prosciutto and provelone cheese.

2010 Richard Hamilton Lot 148 Merlot

A Merlot that’ll earn ‘Sideways’ glances for the right reasons. This edition has a particularly deep colour for Merlot, in the reddy black spectrum. Plenty of fruitcake and black n blue fruit notes here along with a waft of cinnamon and nutmeg. Supply slurpable and with a tannin finish that reminds you why red wine is the angry cousin. Fortunately he’s dressed for the dinner and not a family barbeque.
