Introduction
Adelaide Plains has many high yielding vineyards due to its sunny, hot climate. It is also known as a producer of low cost grapes. This is not to say that the region is not capable of producing excellent wines, as Primo Estate's wines prove.

Location
Adelaide Plains is to the north of metropolitan Adelaide, east to Adelaide Hills and south-west of Barossa Valley. It is a short drive from Adelaide city, of aroung half an hour.

Characteristics
Flat plains.

|
Climate
Hot with lots of sunshine. Rainfall during growing season is only 130mm.

|
Grape Varieties
Shiraz, chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Colombard

Soil
Two soil types: Red-brown loamy sands with alkaline subsoils and limestone at deeper levels or smaller patches of heavier loam and cracking clay soils which are more alkaline than acidic.
