Best of Boutique SA whites - $140
Offer 1 features the best of small South Aussie producers with no shortage of accolades. 2 are 4 star, 2 are 4.5 star and 1 is a 5 star winery according to James Halliday – so here’s a dozen of their best at less than 12 bucks a bottle
Claymore Riesling recently scored 4.5 stars in Winestate. It has piercing clarity of fruit, plenty of lime and bathpowder and a relatively soft finish. The Jeanneret a touch more intense and old school- superb wine for cellaring. Vincognita SB comes from a cooler spot on the Fleurieu peninsula and is made by former Fox Creek winemaker Chris Dix. Bird In Hand continually produce exceptional Chardy from the Adelaide Hills and this edition is no exception. The Mosquito Hill is also stunning, really Australian Chardy doesn’t get much better than this. Finally the Domas Viognier is a ripper- perfectly balanced with excellent fruit and a crisp, mouthwatering structure this variety so often lacks. So hands in the air- this is possibly the best offer 1 we have ever produced!

Big reds for men in tights (or with tight wallets) - $150
Offer 2 features the stunning Killibinbin Cellar release Shiraz. We like to take this wine to tastings and serve it masked alongside a $50 red from on of the big companies. Generally 50% of the audience picks the Killibinbin as being the more expensive wine. Thick, rich and complex, it really is a beauty. The Claymore is also excellent, for mine- intense with reduced blackcurrants and blueberries, great oak and fine but persistent acidity. Brilliant now and better with a stint in the cellar. Gemtree Uncut is possibly in the best form of its life- this edition picked up 95/100 from Halliday. The Hamilton is similarly accoladed having picked up 2 golds and 2 trophies. The Zonte’s Cab Malbec is lush and dark, great for current consumption but won’t fall off its perch any time soon. Finally the Harbour is the quaffer- but still good, very black and made from 100% Langhorne Creek fruit…
