We ain’t never put a cleanskin in a pack before, never mind the precious "first red pack of the month". But it is too good to ignore. Tasting panel consensus on the cleanskin reserve Barossa Shiraz: Glorious. We can’t tell you who made it, only that it is staggeringly good, essentially forcing us to include it. Rest of the wines are pretty darn flash too … check em out.
Great names here including Gemtree, Henry’s Drive, Leconfield, Hardy’s and De Bortoli. We’ve got a gold medal winner, a James Halliday 94 pointer and most of the wines included come from wineries James Halliday has rated 5 stars.
New entries in this edition include Murray Street's supple and delicious ‘Barossa’, a Thorn Clarke single vineyard special release, a stunning Reserve Barossa Cabernet and Triple Trophy Winning McLaren Vale Shiraz Blend.
We are big fans of the Adelaide Hills and it’s wines, so here’s a handful of the good stuff from some of our fave producers. These drink well right now and make for a great start to a night where the food and company are of a standard which is pleasing to you.
More highlights from the tasting panel with Trophy winning Riesling from Patrick, Three Bucket's succulent Chardonnay and Paracombe’s structured and peary Pinot Gris, to name a few. All wines received the tasting panels drool of approval.
A mixed selection of the best value whites and reds we have at the moment. Whether it's the citrus and floral blossom bouquet of the Burge Riesling, the white pepper, blackberries and pudding of the Zonte's Shiraz, the massive but balanced Madeleine's Shiraz or the lively and citrusy Hamilton SSB, you'll love all these wines...game, set and food-match.
A brand spanking new value selection averaging $10 per bottle. No ringers here, all lovely wines and great drinking. Includes wines from Massena, Pertaringa, Geoff Hardy, Richard Hamilton, Schild Estate and Henry’s Drive…all exceptional boutique producers. Each of these wines got a big thumbs up on the tasting panel and can be drunk now or salted away for a year or 2.
4 and 5 star producers here in this selection designed for current consumption. The tasting panel enjoyed each of these wines for their generous fruit and all round tastiness. The Goode Barossa Cab is particularly tasty and the Schild Estate Chardonnay is definitely an unsung hero.

I love this time of year, mild Autumn weather sets in and a vigneron’s thoughts turn to getting precious fruit off the vine and into winery. ... CONTINUE READING »
Grüner Veltliner isn’t a variety I’ve had a lot to do with but a couple of recent tastings of Australian Grüners inspired me to dig a bit deeper. I reckon it is a very exciting prospect with the potential to become an Aussie mainstay. ... CONTINUE READING »
