Adelaide Hills Secret Special Shiraz - SAVE 50%!

It's been a little while since we offered a secret deal - we've dropped our pants on this one in order to knock your socks off - Save 50% on this Adelaide Hills whopper - A massive wine which is even better after a day's opening, so we recommend giving it a vigorous decant at least an hour before opening. Lots of white pepper here in the nose leads to a palate awash with brooding blackness. Have a crack with woolly mammoth steaks.

McLaren Vale Secret Special Shiraz Blend

Amazing wine for an amazing price - 94 points from James Halliday plus 3 Trophies and 3 Gold medals...A ripper drop this, dripping with black and blue fruit succulence. A spicy nose leads to a sweet mid palate and finished with dry, savoury tannins. Delicious right now with rare roast meats but you could easily cellar for a year or 5.

Red Riders on the Storm

Red Riders on the Storm

$150.00

With winter coming Reds are generally the choice for ‘riding out the storm’ as it were. Each of these will do the job quite nicely thanks very much. They might even taste better listening to rain splotching on a galv or tin roof with Ray Manzarek’s eerily rain like keyboards from ‘Riders on the Storm’ pattering in the background.

We can just imagine Mick Molloy uttering the crackerjack phrase, ‘these are genuine 1970’s prices, gentlemen. How long has this lark been going on?’ Best of all you don’t need to order these on Tuesday, any day of the week ending in Y will be fine.

$250.00

Highlights from the tasting panel including Paxton’s sublime Quandong Shiraz - it’s from 2011 and is also the best Quandong produced to date. See also the 2011 Dandelion Lionheart which is magnificent, having won trophies and golds already and Heirloom’s 2011 Barossa Shiraz which is a significantly better wine than the 2010.

White my Fire

We all love the Doors covering the Big Joe Williams classic ‘Baby Please Don’t Go’ but perhaps Elmer Fudd covering Light my Fire is a step too far? Either way the tasting panel's fire was lit by all of the wines in this pack. The Schild Chardy which punches well above its weight, Grant Burge’s lime laden Rizza, Mountadam’s gloriously evergreen Eden Chardonnay and Pertaringa’s beguiling Semillon - a bit like Elmer, the Sem is certainly not considered fashionable and unlike our fave celluloid bacon precursor, it should be an icon - it is that tasty…

The tasting panel love a 2-fa-1 ticket to the flicks, a block of chocolate with 20% free and leaving the grease on the barbie to save on olive oil next time around. So we’re delighted to bring you this tasty selection for just $79 bucks. Best of all you don’t need to order these on Tuesday, any day of the week ending in Y will be fine.

The tasting panel universally loved each of these wines, from the Deviation Road Sauv Blanc’s striking fruit to Three Bucket’s seductively creamy Chardonnay. On the red side of the fence we were absolutely delighted by the structural and robust Schoenthal Cab and Paxton’s lissom Shiraz. We are also massive fans of the Hand Crafted Shiraz blend, which looks better the longer it is open (so decant this one vigorously) and Pertaringa’s dark chocolatey Cab blend.

4 and 5 star producers here in this selection designed for current consumption. The tasting panel enjoyed each of these wines for their generous fruit and all round tastiness. The Goode Barossa Cab is particularly tasty and the Schild Estate Chardonnay is definitely an unsung hero.

Adelaide Hills, SA

0 COMMENTSPosted in : Regions

Considerably cooler than the surrounding plains, the hills are washed in rain during winter months, and the peaks wrapped in fog. It is considered a high rainfall region compared to other Australian regions, but outside of winter the climate is warm and dry. Night time temperatures are the feature – notably cooler than the day when the sun sets. ... CONTINUE READING »
